At the end of May we took part in the sixth edition of 3Dcamp hosted by the University of Limerick and organized by Gabriela Avram, James Corbett & Vicky Lee.
Crypto currencies, digital fabrication, 3D printing & free culture were some of the themes presented. The day started with Conor MacCormack from MCor technologies who gave a fantastic overview of their paper-baser full color 3Dprinting technology.
In our talk we described the experience of building our own fabrication lab at the School Of Architecture following three main principles: making them as affordable as possible, using Open Source projects for all our machines and trying to use self-replicable designs so students could fabricate their own machines with the fablab ones. After the talk, we did a visit to our facilities with some friends from TOG in Dublin, 091labs in Galway and Milklabs in Limerick.
Finally, we would like to thank Gabriela, James, Vicky & the rest of the organization for such interesting day. Looking forward to next year 3DCamp!
